A COLUMN OF NUMBERS AND A WALL OF DIGITS

Location: Vocational Business School, Rohrbach
Completion: 2019

more

The central structural and visual element in the long foyer is a concrete column. Around it, sculpturally designed numerals are attached, transforming this static element into a vertical sculpture. The cantilever-like numbers can be used as temporary shelves, coffee stands, and so on.

On the second floor corridor wall the numerals are represented differently. The cipher “0” is designed as an object for sitting. Together with the nearby drinking fountain, the sitting objects, and the sculptured wall, a kind of village square is formed: one goes to the fountain, drinks, meets friends, chats, sits down for a while.
